WEEK 1:
Supported democracy. The US didn't need help from the USSR during the Potsdam Conference. Both distrustful; of each other. Both really looked for peace and security, however both had different ways of approaching it which caused turmoil and disorder in the first place which caused the Cold War. To continue, it was rather all based on negotiable aspects and it was a cold war because no actual fighting took place, also it was an issue involving mainly diplomatic manners and over who became the superior nation in all sorts of aspects such as technologically, and intellectually. Competition heated and at the same time off-wars occurred like the Korean War which was against yet another nation who was influenced by communism. The US did whatever it took to prevent communism to spread as well.
WEEK 2:

Butter Battle was an issue involving the resource of butter and how useful it was by its utility and basically who got to use it and such, each side trying to overcome one side of another. This was symbolic over issues involving superiority of nations and over who can be redeemed the superior state at the time. In this case both the US and the Soviets make nuclear weapons back and forth and constantly try to become and show to be the more superior nation by having more nuclear arms. MAD: Mutual assured destruction, basically if one side nuked another, then vice-verse causing massive destruction of both Soviet and US lands. Competition lead eventually to the space race between both sides and caused schematics that revolutionized science as well. Russia was first to launch a person in space, but the US was first to have an actual person land on the moon.
WEEK 3:
Tensions between countries that supported communism and those who promoted democracy grew as the Cold War progressed which resulted in several other clashes and one incident alone that led to a full-scale war. The Korean War was the cause of this clash between communist and non-communist parties. The non-communist side won, but South Korea suffered afterwards with large debts, casualties, and countless orphaned children. Years later, there was another incident that ended with even worse results. This was Vietnam, and it was caused by the Viet-Cong, North Vietnam's communist party, and there was a similar issue of the Korean War with both having to do with powerful nations such as the US and other European countries wanting to support the concept of liberty and democracy and they overall feared that if Communism spreads it will be very fatal and would fall under tyranny. Non-Communist sides lost and faced horrible casualties and debts, and there were even more issues to come of countries that went against democracy and freedom.
WEEK 4:
Newer issues have awakened after the last two wars, but the real issues was the downfall of the Soviet Union which was for a variety of reasons. Several of these being very large debts still to be paid, their loss of the space race which they put lots of money into, and the other countries surrounding them have lost their trust and didn't want communism anymore. It did seem though as if the incident of the USSR and the Eastern bloc countries losing trust was inevitable due to the fact that it was very hard to keep all of those countries under watch with large debts to pay and issues with them not wanting communism to spread. Soon there was also the issue of Afghanistan and their spread of terrorism for their personal beliefs and this even hurt the Soviets more because of the fact that they had Afghanistan influence inside their nations and the spread of their forces made it harder for the Soviets. Eventually, the new leader, Gorbachev spread the concepts of Glasnost and Perestroika and eventually brought freedom to Russia and ended to Soviet Union
